The Orientation program is not intended to be used as a complete training program. Rather it’s an introduction to the SP department, providing new technicians with a basic understanding of the various workflows. This will be used in conjunction with already established department education and will support hands-on training. This is a self-paced program containing 7 modules that learners can navigate at their own speed. It may be completed all at once or reviewed individually prior to entering a workspace to help techs become more familiar with each area. As they move through the modules, learners will encounter audio prompts that will provide more detailed information. The program covers: • Introduction to Sterile Processing • Decontamination • Preparation & packaging • Steam sterilization • Low-temperature sterilization • Storage and distribution • Use and transport Each module includes a brief knowledge check and is designed to help employees become familiar with workflows and build confidence before entering each area of the SPD.
